Jerry Beck joined
the US Air Force on August 8, 1967. He
served approximately 25 years and 9 months and was discharged on April 30,
1993. At the time he was discharged he was
a MSgt., E-7. During his military time
in service he had various Military Occupational Specialties including; 43151A-Reciprocating
Aircraft Maintenance Specialist; 46170 – Conventional Munitions Specialist;
46370 – Nuclear Weapons Maintenance Specialist; 10090 – US Air Force First
Sergeant. He received specialized
training for all these MOSs. During his
almost 26 years of service Jerry served in many different locations; the first
being Howard AFB, Panama, 1968-1970; the second to the last was at Kirtland
AFB, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 1987-1990; and the last was RAF
Bentwaters/Woodbridge, Bentwaters, UK, 1990-1993. Jerry is a Vietnam Veteran and from 1972-1973
he served at Tan Son Nhut AFB, Vietnam. He served in two different places in Florida, two different places in
Louisiana, in California, Texas, Thailand, South Carolina and in Germany. After retiring from military service in April
1993, he moved his family to Albuquerque, NM and in 2011 he moved to Los Lunas,
NM, where he currently lives. Following his
military retirement, he worked at Best Buy, Office Max, Intel, Family Advocacy,
377th ABW Hospital on Kirtland AFB and for the the US Forest
Service. He joined the VFW in March,
2023 and due to health reasons, he only served two years of a three-year term as
a Post Trustee. Jerry enjoys the
camaraderie of his fellow VFW Post members as well as the opportunity to help veterans
and serve Valencia County residents by participating in the Post’s many Community
Service Projects. Jerry is now serving
as an Alternate Post Trustee, but if his health permits it, he is willing to serve
a complete three-year term as a Post Trustee.
